My Perfect Inserts

I've been trying to find inserts that meet my requirements for my pocket:

  • Enough space to write every day of the week, so equal writing space for weekdays and weekends;
  • Inclusive to-do list
  • Notes section
  • Stylish and modern fonts
  • No extra language/holiday information
  • Lines so my writing stays neat
This is what I have come up with, my ideal pocket planner insert:

I'd really like to give this a go, but I'm not confident in printing pocket pages double-sided, it will probably waste a few trees and I think I'd feel really guilty about it. Maybe I will try a week and that might convince me to brave printing double-sided!

What would your perfect planner insert feature?

I like that layout Laura.

If you have difficulty with your printer doing double sided printing, opt for single sided only, then print all the Odd number pages first.. then turn the stack over and print the even number pages.

The trick is to work out what way the paper is going in and coming out put a pencil mark in the corner on one side. Also be careful about the order that the pages are printed in. You might have to reshuffle the paper after the first print of the odd number pages.

This looks great! You could try on scrap or used paper til you figure it out :)

Thanks Steve, the only way to know if it will work is to try it out! The issue is I'm not very logical but I'm sure it won't be that difficult. Just need to print weeks 1 and 3 on one page and then 2 and 4 on the back... I think...!

Thanks for the tip as well, on creating a pocket layout, it's much easier to work with when you create columns as margins and pages rather than messing around with text boxes!

I will try :) I'm sure I will post my findings on my blog x

Love, love, love this layout Laura! So clean and tidy, thanks for sharing. May I ask what software you used to design them? Good luck with the printing, I've not attempted pocket size yet, only printed direct onto cotton cream plain personal pages xx

Hi Amy, I just did this on MS Word :) you can download templates from Philofaxy. X

Thanks, I've been playing with those but yours look so much more fancy than mine! I am in need of a software update though as my version is so old :) thanks for the inspiration x

Nice layout. It doesn't take long to figure out how to print them. And once you do, you've got it for future custom pages. I print custom pages for myself, my daughter and my daughter-in-law. It's definitely worth it!

I do like Steve says, though. I print one side and then print the second side. It's just easier that way.

For pocket-size, working out how to double-side them was too tricky for me, so I cut all my paper to the right size, then set my printer settings to that and re-did the file in Word to match the paper size.
Ha ha - having written all that, maybe it would have been simpler just to work out how to print the original properly!
Lovely layout though.

How were you able to design this? What software did you use? I'd love to make some of my own, but I have no idea of where to start.

Gorgeous layout by the way! =)
